FAQ

Where to stay on a first visit to Tokyo?

If your plans center on Shinjuku, Shibuya and Harajuku, stay in Shinjuku; to shop in Ginza and take the shinkansen, stay at Ginza · Tokyo Station. Both have very easy connections.

Should I stay somewhere different depending on Narita or Haneda?

Via Narita, stay in Ueno (Skyliner direct to Keisei Ueno) or at Tokyo Station (N'EX direct) for the least hassle; via Haneda, stay in Shinagawa (Keikyu 14 min) or Asakusa (Keikyu through service, no transfer).

How big are budget hotel rooms?

The budget business hotels on this page, per their official sites, mostly have 12–15㎡ double rooms; opening two large suitcases at once is a bit of a squeeze.

How is the price band determined?

The lowest public room rate found on each hotel's official booking system, converted at Bank of Taiwan's yen rate on the day. Tokyo rates vary widely by date; in peak season they can be 2–3 times the starting price. Actual prices depend on your dates on the platform.

Is staying near Disney worth it?

For two or more days with kids, the commuting time saved is well worth it; for a single day with the rest of the trip in the city, staying in the city is more convenient.
